TRAVEL GRANT UPDATE: OUT OF FUNDS

GPSA regrets to inform graduate students that all travel grant awards (for conferences occurring before June 30) have been issued and the waitlist is now closed. For this reason, GPSA cannot offer any more travel grants during this fiscal year. Please do not send new pre-approval forms for conferences occurring before June 30th.

Please note that our next fiscal year begins on July 1st, and we encourage all students to apply for travel grants for conferences occurring after that date. Applications will be available in May.

GPSA TICKET REGISTRATION PROCEDURES

GPSA Ticket Distribution Procedure

To apply for event tickets, follow these steps:

1. Completely fill out and sign the application form
2. Submit the application to GPSA either in person or through email: pittgpsa@gmail.com
3. Incomplete and/or illegible submissions will be discarded.
4. Ticket recipients will be notified at the email address listed on their application form.
5. Tickets not picked up by the time specified in the email notice will be forfeited and the participants will be barred from future GPSA events.
6. If you receive tickets, you must use them. If you do not use the tickets, you will be barred from future GPSA events or must pay GPSA $25.00 per ticket or the actual cost of the ticket, whichever is greater.
7. When possible, GPSA will obtain tickets for all interested students. However, due to budget constraints and greater student interest for some events, GPSA may not be able to purchase enough tickets to accommodate all interested students. In this situation, tickets will be awarded via a lottery or a ?first come, first serve? basis.
8. Any questions, concerns, or comments should be addressed to Nancy Potter, VP of Communications, communications@pittgpsa.org

About GPSA

The Graduate and Professional Student Assembly is the student government that represents the interests of all graduate and professional student at the University of Pittsburgh and serves as the umbrella organization for all of the graduate/professional school student governments. Our mission is to act as the voice of our constituents and to actively ensure that the concerns of these students are heard.

GPSA includes both the GPSA Assembly and Assembly Groups. As the chief governing body of GPSA, the Assembly is composed of the four executive officers as well as representatives from each school's student governments. The Groups are organizations designed to represent specific needs of university students across different schools. Our funds come from the student activity fee.

Examples of programs and services we provide include the following:

  • annual funding to each graduate school's student government (in addition to supplemental funds for which any student groups may apply.)

  • $100-200 travel grants to students presenting at conferences.

  • free legal services (in conjunction with the undergraduate Student Government Board).

  • sponsorship of additional activities ranging from social functions to academic workshops.

  • representation on university-wide committees such as Provost's Advisory Committees, University Senate Standing Committees, and others.
